If you are thinking you have to spend $100’s or $1,000’s on a website, the good news is you don’t!

In this article I am going to break down the key tips and tricks to setting up your doula website so that it’s professional and effective.

It’s no surprise that having a website for your doula business can have a significant impact on your ability to attract clients and build out income within your business. Your website can become a key part of your marketing strategy so it’s important to connect to why you need one and how to ensure you are setting your website up so that it’s effective.

As a doula, your website is often the first point of contact between you and potential clients and often one of the key places your potential clients will go to find out more about you. For this reason, it’s important to create a website that is both professional and effective in communicating your brand and services to your ideal clients.

There are many benefits to your business in having a website.

Why build a doula website

Establish an online presence

Having a website establishes your online presence. Your potential clients are often searching for services online and having a website, especially a website that is optimised, ensures that your potential clients are able to find out about your doula services and become aware of your business through their search efforts.

Build credibility and trust

A website builds credibility and trust within your business. It becomes a platform that showcases your expertise, qualifications, and experience which is a really effective way of establishing credibility and trust with your potential clients.

Client acquisition

It’s no surprise that an effective website can attract new clients and create a steady flow of enquiries for your doula business. When you intentionally optimise your website for search engines and offer valuable content through your website, you can increase your visibility and reach to broaden your audience otherwise of other marketing channels, like social media.

Branding and brand recognition

Your website supports you in building your brand identity to establish brand recognition with your potential clients. This can support your potential clients with making the decision to work with you.

When to get a website?

Ideally you want to start building out your website when you first start your business. It’s important to note though that having a website is not necessary to book clients, you may book clients directly through social media or conversations with potential clients even without a website established.

So although a website isn’t necessary to start your business, it’s certainly a MASSIVE part of your long-term success strategy for your business so the sooner you are intentionally building your website, the sooner you will begin reaping the rewards, especially in terms of SEO.

Key elements of your website

Here are the key tips for designing a doula website that will help you attract and retain clients:

Keep it simple and easy to navigate

When designing your doula website, simplicity is key. Keep your website clean and easy to navigate, with clear headings and a logical flow of information. Your potential clients should be able to find what they’re looking for quickly and easily.

Use high-quality images

Using high-quality images can help your website stand out and make a positive first impression. Consider investing in professional photography or using high-quality stock photos, although taking some good quality photos yourself when you are starting your business is certainly enough so if it’s not a good time to invest in some professional photos, ask someone you trust to take some photos for you that you can use. Remember that you can always build on your website and improve it over time so later in time when you do have professional photos you can update your website to include them.

Highlight your services and experience

Make sure your website clearly outlines your services and experience. Potential clients should be able to quickly and easily understand what you offer and what makes you unique. Consider including testimonials from past clients to help build trust and credibility with your potential clients and demonstrate how you can support them.

Include a clear call-to-action

Your website should include a clear call-to-action that encourages potential clients to take the next step. This could be filling out a contact form, scheduling a initial consultation, or signing up for your free value-add offer. Make sure your call-to-action is a clear and relevant step in your client journey and is prominently displayed on your website so that it’s easy to find.

Make it mobile-friendly

More and more people are browsing the web on their smartphones and tablets. Make sure your website is mobile-friendly and responsive, meaning it will adapt to the size of the screen it’s being viewed on. A mobile-friendly website is also better for search engine optimisation.

Optimise for search engines

Further to search engine optimisation (SEO), it’s important to make sure your doula website is optimised for search engines like Google. This means including relevant keywords in your content and meta descriptions, optimising your images, and using a clear and descriptive URL structure.

Make it personal

Finally, don’t be afraid to make your website personal and reflective of what your business stands for. This is your chance to showcase your personality and connect with potential clients on a deeper level. Your website should be a reflection of your brand so that you can stand out online and build brand recognition.
